End of Term letter 2018

Dear Parent(s)/Carer(s)

It has been another very successful term at St John’s.  We began the term by welcoming our new year 7 pupils who I am delighted to tell you have settled down very well into life at our school.   Given the fact that our GCSE results were so good, many of our pupils have stayed with us and are studying diligently for their A ‘levels.

Our school facilities have improved and we have a new outdoor seating area which is proving to be very popular with our pupils.   We also have a new sixth form bistro and have refurbished several areas of the school.

We have had some inspirational acts of worship this term for instance for All Saints, Advent and most recently our Christingle and Carol Services.   It is lovely to see so many pupils participating with enthusiasm in these services.  We held a tea party for the veterans for Remembrance which was organised by students as part of their WBQ course.

I was so proud that we raised over £2,300 for Children in Need.  This is just one example of the generous and kind nature of our pupils.   We had a ‘Restart a Heart Day’ for year 9 pupils which trained pupils how to help people with heart problems if the need ever arises.

There have been many musical events celebrating the talents of our pupils as well as our impressive sporting successes.

There will be a new school stockist joining Trina’s and Treharris Sportsgear, namely Uniform2go who have an on-line service and shop in Bridgend Industrial Estate (details to follow).

Pupils have worked hard and there is much academic success to be celebrated.   We look forward to seeing all pupils back in school on Tuesday, 8th January 2019.

I hope that pupils, parents, carers, staff, governors and whole school community have a most enjoyable peaceful and Holy Christmas.

God Bless

Yours faithfully

Dr S M Mitchell
