UCAS

Students in the Sixth Form receive a great deal of advice and guidance when making their university applications, and we are proud of the diverse range of courses and institutions our pupils transfer to after ‘A’ level. Our Head of Sixth Form, Mr C Loveridge, will give individual support to students applying through UCAS, and additional support is available from Mrs Lynne Davies, Careers Wales, with organising relevant work placements. Our pupils are studying as far north as Edinburgh and St Andrews, as far west as Falmouth and Plymouth, and at a host of other institutions around the country and, indeed, abroad. The subjects being studied include familiar ones, such as English, Law and Medicine, as well as more unusual ones such as Script Writing and Fashion Photography.

Although we have a great deal of expertise in-house, we frequently bring in professionals to give talks on specialised areas, such as University finance and student loans. We also offer support to pupils who have left us, but who decide to enter higher education at a later stage.

The School's Deputy Head leads the local authority’s working party on increasing applications to Oxford and Cambridge, and he maintains links with a number of UK universities to ensure that pupils receive the most up to date information possible.
