How to Cope with Anxiety

Stress, worry, and anxiety are completely normal human experiences. This is especially the case during something times of worry and increased pressure. For example, when preparing for important assessments or public examinations. Fortunately, just because something doesn’t appear normal it should not prevent applying strategies to change the situation.

In this section, there are a range of online tools to support individuals who are feeling anxious or stressed. These may be very personal, so it is important to work through these at a comfortable pace.

Here are some of the organisations who may be able to help

  • MindShift is an Android/iOS mobile application, which uses scientifically proven strategies based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to help individuals learn to relax and be mindful, develop more effective ways of thinking, and use active steps to take charge of your anxiety.
  • Clear Fear is an Android/iOS mobile application, which uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques to support individuals to reduce the physical responses to anxiety. It has been created by stem4, a charity that promotes positive mental health in teenagers and those who support them. This including families and carers, education professionals, as well as school nurses and GPs through the provision of mental health education, resilience strategies and early intervention.

  • The Mix is a UK-based digital youth charity offering help and advice for under 25s. They offer, telephone, chat and counselling support and connect young people to experts and their peers to talk about everything from money to mental health, and more.
