How to Cope with Loss

When somebody dies, it is perfectly understandable that people feel all sorts of emotions or none at all. There are lots of people who understand and will be available to provide help.

Everybody goes through loss differently and, in this section, there are a range of different resources to meet individual needs. Don’t forget that there are always people around you who can help, whether they are a teacher, a family member/carer, a friend and/or your GP.

Here are some of the organisations who may be able to help

  • Hope Again is a Cruse Bereavement Care’s website for young people. They are a national charity that provides support, advice and information to children, young people and adults when someone close to them dies.
  • Child Bereavement UK helps children, parents and families to rebuild their lives when a child grieves and/or when a child dies. They aim to help bereaved young people feel less alone and to encourage others in how to support them.
  • Apart of Me is an Android/iOS mobile application, created by the company Bounce Works and designed with experts in the field of child bereavement and family psychology. It provides young people with a safe space to grieve, where they can hear from others who know how it feels and find strength and wisdom.
  • 2Wish provides immediate and ongoing bereavement support for families, individuals and professionals affected by the sudden and/or traumatic death of a child or young adult under the age of 25.
